  1. Question: The title of the film is taken from Agustin’s statement, “The problem is that everything is incredible and people don’t accept it.” What do you think Agustin means by this statement? Write a paragraph responding to the following questions: How does this statement relate to Agustin’s life, his disability, and his efforts to build a helicopter and fly? Why might the filmmaker have chosen this statement as the film’s title?

Answer: I think he means that people don’t approve that message because they think it is impossible that everything is incredible. They don’t believe him when he says that. It relates to his life because his life his life is pretty sad and depressing. He has to go through polio, but he still has all that joy and courage. Polio makes him unable to walk too. His efforts to building his helicopter definitely took a lot of failures and trying. I like his personality for not giving up on his helicopter for three decades. He just kept on trying and finding new ways. I think the filmmaker chose this statement for the film’s title because it shows great compassion and perserverence.

2. Question: The great American novelist, Ernest Hemingway, once wrote, “The world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong at the broken places.” How might one’s character strengthen after being broken by the world? Describe a real person, or fictional character from a book or film, who endured obstacles and became stronger. What strengths were gained? Do you notice any similarities between this character and Agustin? If so, what?

Answer: The strengths that were gained was him getting the time for working on his helicopter. One’s character after broken might strengthen by getting comfort from another person.

3. Question: In an interview, Tyler Bastian, filmmaker of Everything is Incredible, explains, “Agustin is an obscure man that lives in a remote part of Honduras. If I had not ran into him and taken the time to look, his story would have always remained untold. Everyday we run into individuals that are just as amazing as Agustin, in their own way. We merely have to be looking. I am inspired by these obscure amazing stories.” Write a paragraph describing an individual — either real or imagined — that you think is “amazing” or “obscure.” Describe this person’s characteristics. What makes him/her different? What do you find amazing about this person? Why?

Answer: Rosa Parks toke great courage when she refused to get off the bus to make room for a white person. Her characteristics are perseverance, compassion, kindness and bravery. She is different from Agustin because obviously she’s from a different country and that she took a different act of courage from Agustin. What I find amazing about her is that she eventually went to jail after she refused to get of the bus. She still had that courage to not get of the bus.
